Mary M. Nalan, age 91, passed away on Tuesday February 19, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.

She was born on December 14, 1921 in Viroqua WI to Wayne and Jessie Cowden. She was married to Herman Hogan and they had three daughters. She married Norbert Nalan in 1963, and they were together until his death in 1975. She worked for many years as both a teacher and a waitress. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and bingo, and spending time with family and friends. She was affiliated with Bethel Lutheran Church, and a former member of the Eagles Club. Since 2006 she resided at Chamomile Assisted Living.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Joyce (Raymond) Karas, Lana (Gary) Groth, and Denise Davis; grandchildren: Tamara Enders, Jake Davis and Brian Davis; great-granddaughter Madison Autrey; sister Maxine Davis. She is further survived by longtime friend and companion Frank Ewers, two step-granddaughters and four step-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norbert; three brothers and two sisters; and her grandson Bruce.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
