Eugene L. Ulrich

MADISON - Eugene L. Ulrich, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, surrounded by family. He was born in North Freedom on February 10, 1931, the son of Obert and Edith (Harman) Ulrich. He worked for the railroad in North Freedom for 10 years before starting his career at Oscar Mayer in 1952. He retired 41 years later in 1993. He was united in marriage to Mavis (Pellett) Nonn on October 23, 1976. Eugene enjoyed racing stock cars, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, traveling, fishing, and bowling. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather, and as a handyman to all he knew.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mavis; his children, Terrill (Steve) Hustad, Susan Young, Dawn (Tom) McGinley, and Scott (Annette) Ulrich; his stepchildren, William (Bernie) Schultz, and Susan Nonn; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Juanita Ulrich; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Verona; a son, Bill Ulrich; stepchildren, Sharon Ortiz, James Nonn and David Nonn.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2126 N. Sherman Ave., with the Rev. Gerry Kuhnke presiding. Burial will follow at Verona Cemetery in Verona. A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church.
