Madison – David P. Houghton, age 52, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He was well known to many as a dancer. “Who is the star?” was his question when he was getting ready for the band at the Union or at a music festival. The right answer was “You are the star,” and he was, dancing gracefully and athletically to almost any music, despite his bad hip.

Dave loved to shop at Savers and the other second-hand shops, where the employees became his friends and the other shoppers his rivals.

He is survived by his mother, Carla Houghton of Marietta, Georgia; his sisters Rita Russo of Henderson, North Carolina, Maria Houghton of Bozeman, Montana and Elizabeth Osgood of Newport Richey, Florida; and niece and nephew, Amy and Nicholas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas and a brother John.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at THE MEMORIAL UNION, 800 Langdon St., in the Wisconsin West Room, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM on Sunday, March 10, 2013.
