MADISON - Henrietta P. Jones, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Henrietta was born in Waldwick, WI, one of eight children of Elizabeth (Reger) and Henry Wallenkamp. She grew up on a farm in the Mineral Point area. Henrietta was a 1939 graduate of Mineral Point High School, and a graduate of Madison Business College.
Henrietta was united in marriage to Donald M. Jones of Unity, WI, on November 21, 1942, at St. Ita’s in Chicago, IL. Donald then left to serve in World War II. Upon his return in 1945, Donald built the home where he and Henrietta raised their family and lived their entire lives. It was a great source of joy to her, and she took special delight in working in the beautiful yard and gardens, most especially her rose garden.
She worked for many decades as a secretary for the USDA in Soil Conservation Service, and in later years she also worked for the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association, as well as Swiss Colony. Henrietta was also a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as St. Peter Catholic Church.
Henrietta loved to cook, bake, and host holiday meals. It meant so much to her to be surrounded by her family. There were many happy times spent at the family cabin in Grantsburg, WI, and fishing in the St. Croix River. Henrietta is survived by her four children, Robert (Patricia) Jones of Big Lake, Alaska, Nancy(Lucien) Steinbeck of Madison, WI, Thomas (Cindy) Jones of Sun Prairie, WI, and Patricia Jones (Neil Gollhardt)of Milwaukee, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel (Jamie) Jones of Sheridan, OR, Robin (Bill) Linfield of South Lyon, MI, and Wendy (Jeff) Ward of Verona, WI, as well as great-grandchildren, Caleb, Andi and Riley Jones, Jordyn and Karson Linfield, and Delaney Seffrood. She is further survived by her brother, Francis Wallenkamp and his wife, Della, of Arena, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Elizabeth and Henry; as well as her brothers, Henry, Irving, and Clement; and sisters, Florence, Gladys, and Inez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. A luncheon will follow. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Monday. A private family burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mineral Point.
