He was a great man. He made me feel that I mattered. It was pleasure knowing him.

Karen, Staci, and Erin, I was deeply saddened to learn of Tom's passing. Tom was a great and caring man, devoted husband and father. He taught me many things while I worked along side him in Curriculum and Instruction. I remember when he nicknamed me "Red” and I thought to myself that there was only one other person who could get away with calling me by my nickname and that was my own father. Tom would stop by my office or call me when he was on campus, and it was always, "Red, how are you doing?" Yes, Tom was a very special man and will be greatly missed. Brenda Husser

Karen, Staci, and Eryn my heart is fun of sadness with the loss of your husband/father. Tom hired me in 1988 in Curriculum and Instruction at Virginia Tech. I will always remember him and think of him with fondness.

Much love and blessings to you all. Tammie

Word just reached me of Tom's passing. We worked together on many community improvement projects in Blacksburg and grew to be very close friends. He was a very hard working creative person and will be missed by countless people. My condolences to Karen and the family. Warren and Claudia Stutzman

Karen, I just learned of Tom's death today. I can't imagine the world of Catholic education without his lectures, publications and enthusiasm. I feel so fortunate to have had the opporunity to work with him at UD. Most of all, I appreciated his positive approach to people and his work. I am hoping to attend a service at UD in his memory. Dr. Hunt was one of the most passionate professors I had in my lifetime. His love for Catholic education was always apparent, but, his love of helping other young scholars achieve that same passion in their chosen area of education was special. I send prayers to the family. Thank you for sharing him with so many people. It was a privilege to know him.

I am saddened to receive this news about Tom. For many years I was always stimulated with new ideas he wanted to collaborate. He had more than five ideas (books) simmering in the kettle! He brought a passion, synergy and vision that was able to delve deeply into an issue! There are few people today who have the kind of stamina, perspective, enthusiasm for constantly moving forward with new ideas. His great love for Catholic education and the Church inspired every person he came in contact. He left us a rare gift with his copious publications. I believe the most recent book he was designing had to do with communities of Religious Women's contribution to Catholic Education. I know he was speaking with Sr. Lourdes Sheehan, a person he deeply admired, and I about the outline of the draft. However, when all is said and done, Tom, was a man of profound faith, deep integrity, authenticity and always a faithful supporting friend! He is in our prayers and always in our heart as a beacon of light! Sr. Angela Ann Zukowski, MHSH, D.Min.

I was so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I will always be grateful for his encouragement of me as a Catholic Sister and his invitations to contribute to a couple of his projects. He was such a prolific scholar!

Dr. Hunt taught me the importance of taking time out of one's day to express gratitude to others. His delivers of flowers or smile to others were appreciated by all. Dr. Hunt will be missed, but his spirit lives on.
