DEFOREST-Donald Asa Hahn, age 85, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Parkside Assisted Living. He was born August 9, 1932 in Poynette, the son of Asa and Ella (Matson) Hahn. He married Ethel Thompson on October 6, 1951, and together they had three children, Debbie, Lonny and Mark.
Donald started farming with his uncle at the age of 14 and had a deep connection to his farm which he was so very proud of. When he was unable to get around any longer, you would find him touring the farm on his Kubota tractor. In his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, bowling, and playing softball. He also helped with the annual lutefisk dinner, served as an usher and council member at Christ Lutheran Church. He belonged to the Golden Triangle Drifter’s snowmobile club, enjoyed spending time at Ho-Chunk and Las Vegas, and went on many trips with Renk Seed Corn. He enjoyed talking and joking around with everyone he came in contact with.
Donald is survived by his three children, Debbie (Louie) Meister of Poynette, Lonny (Lu Ann) Hahn of DeForest and Mark (Kym) Hahn of Dane; grandchildren, Brian (Donna) and Shawn (Karla) Meister, Melissa, Ryan and Kirsten Hahn, Amber (Aaron) Pedersen and Dustin Hahn; great grandchildren, Austin Taylor, Ashia and Ashton Meister and Lydia Pedersen; brother, Dean (Eileen) Hahn of DeForest, sisters-in-law, Barb (Bob) Bakke of Dane and Gerry (Gene) Hoffmann of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ethel, sister, Mary (Ray) Kelley and brother, David Hahn.
