Joan Ann (Quirk) Reed

January 3, 1931 ~ March 29, 2018 (age 87)

MADISON - Joan A. Reed passed away unexpectedly Thursday March 29, 2018, at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI.  She was a very young 87.

Joan was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Platteville, WI, the daughter of Hazel and Morris “Shorty” Quirk. She married the love of her life, John Reed, and was blessed with four children.  Her bond with our dad was like no other, true love.  She was kind, loving and generous.  Joan was an avid traveler and enjoyed cruising, driving trips and spending time in Laughlin/Las Vegas, NV.  There was nothing more important to her than her family. She was the first to volunteer to help, our biggest fan, our greatest supporter and she was ALWAYS there to comfort and care for us. She loved to celebrate our successes.  She made us want to be the best we could be.  She always put everyone else first; she was a giver.  As much as she cherished us, we cherished her.  We grew up with great love, a love that we will be forever grateful for.

She is survived by her loving children Cindy (Rick) Gonzagowski, Terry (Monica) Reed, Kathy (Carl) Maglio and Karen Juno; grandchildren Kristine (Jason) Schisler, Nicholas (Ellie) Reed, Ashley (Bryant) Przybilla, Traci (Brad) Gossen and Kevin Juno; great grandchildren Harper, Peyton, Shelby, Finn and Oakli.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

We each lost a big part of ourselves on March 29th, but she left us with beautiful memories and inspiration. We feel honored and blessed to have had her in our lives. Thank you Mom for loving us and our families unconditionally and teaching us how to love deeply. We long for one more day, one more word.

A private family gathering is planned, per her wishes.  If you have stories to share, the family would love to hear them.
