Kathleen J (Fitzsimmons) Buchanan

August 8, 1927 ~ April 11, 2018 (age 90)

DEFOREST/WESTFIELD – Kathleen J “Kaye” Buchanan, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.  Kaye was born on August 8, 1927 in Merrimac, WI to James and Fern Fitzsimmons.  She grew up in the Merrimac area and graduated from Baraboo High School. Kaye married the love of her life, Loren “Buzz” Buchanan, on June 7, 1947.  She worked at Mendota Mental Health for many years as a medical record administrator.  Kaye was an avid member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield and St. Olaf Catholic Church in DeForest.  She was known for her quilting expertise and loved to share her talent with others.  Kaye also enjoyed flower gardening and traveling with Buzz.  Kaye touched many lives and was loved by all that knew her.

Kaye is survived by her children, Doug, Kathy (Jack) McGill; daughter-in-law, Roxanne; grandchildren, John (Cassie), Kathleen, Mary, Stacy (Rick) Stormer, Gary (Tina) Napralla, and Michael Napralla; great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sebastian, John, Milo, Miranda (Austin) Kennedy, Michaela, Gabi, Liam, Finley, and Savannah; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Buchanan-Rounds, Barb Downing, and Norma Wenger; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Pease.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.  Kaye is reunited with her husband of 67 years, Buzz; and loving son, Steve.  She is also preceded in death by her great grandchildren, twin brothers, Theo and Jacob Stormer; sisters, Merlyn Cox and Doreen Farnsworth; and brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at ST. OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Jefferson Street, DeForest, with Father Vincent Brewer presiding.  A visitation will be held from 9:30AM until time of Mass at the church on Saturday.  Burial at St. Olaf Catholic Cemetery.
