Marjorie V. Lund, age 90, of Madison, died peacefully with family by her side on May 16, 2017 at the Villa at Middleton Village. She was born November 25, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William and Mary (McKeon) VandeLogt. She attended parochial schools in Chicago, and graduated from Alvernia High School at age 16 in June, 1943 as class valedictorian. Following graduation Marj trained as a court reporter and spent three years employed as a legal secretary. On September 13, 1947 she was united in marriage to her husband of 62 years, William C. Lund. Together they raised 4 children. In addition to caring for her family, Marj shared her time and talents with Edgewood High School. She received the Alumni Appreciation Award in 1983 to recognize the many hours volunteered during summers and school years. Mom enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, playing cards (especially Bridge), and completing the daily crossword with her morning coffee. Mom also enjoyed playing golf with Dad and their friends, whether staying home at Blackhawk Country Club or visiting other courses on golfing vacations. Mom possessed many wonderful qualities and will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, which sustained her through the difficulties of her final years.
In addition to the many friends for whom she cared dearly, Marj is survived by her sons, William (Marsha) and David (Amy); daughter, Marcia (Ken Skuldt); daughter-in-law, Donna; grandchildren, Kelley, Casey, Jason, Scott, Nickie, Sara and Jeff; 3 great-grandchildren; her beloved sister, Marilyn McGowan and nephew, George Capoun.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Michael; sister, Mary Capoun; nephew, John Capoun and brothers-in-law George Capoun and Tom McGowan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, with Fr. Bart Timmerman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday at the church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Villa at Middleton Village, Agrace HospiceCare and Dr. Barbara Stowe-Carpenter for their compassion and care for Mom.
