Madison- Sandra S. Scott age 73 of Madison, WI passed away peacefully September 10, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare Madison, WI. Sandy was born April 10th, 1944 in LaCrosse, WI to Marie and Richard Scott. She graduated from Aquinas High School, LaCrosse, WI in 1962, Rochester School of Practical Nursing, Rochester, MN in 1963, UW-LaCrosse, LaCrosse, WI, Masters in Education-Physical Education, in 1984, and Georgetown University, Legal Assistant Program, Washington, DC in 1991.
Sandy was happiest spending time with her grandchildren skiing, running, biking, but most of all traveling with them. She was an avid traveler herself venturing to Europe, Sicily and Arizona on many long distance bike adventures. She played the violin and enjoyed classical music throughout her life. Sandy was a member of the LaCrosse Symphony in early years and the Madison Community Orchestra in later years. Sandy commuted everywhere by bicycle year round, even in her retirement.
Her professional career included employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN and St. Francis Hospital, LaCrosse, WI. Sandy later moved to Boston and continued her career in Health Education with American Red Cross, Blood Services, Dedham, MA and later as an Education Specialist, American Red Cross, Blood Services, in Washington, DC. Sandy returned to Boston and as earlier in her career was an LPN, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston MA before returning to Madison to be near her family. Sandy enjoyed working at Dean Clinic, Madison, WI for 14 years as an LPN until her retirement in 2016.
Sandy is survived by her son, Scott (Lisa) Ducke of Middleton, WI: daughter, Colleen (Al Peebles-fiancé) Ducke, Green Bay, WI: daughter, Lynn (Mike) Blank, Onalaska, WI; five grandchildren, Taylor, Keegan and Peyton Ducke, Jaiso Ducke, and Jacob Blank; sister, Jeanne (Ken) Bagniefski, Stoddard, WI; brother, Dick (Barbara) Scott, Bismarck, ND; special aunt, Merlyn Wavra, LaCrosse, WI; nephew, Scott (Kim) Bagniefski, Holmen, WI; nephew, Paul (Megan) Bagniefski ,LaCrosse, WI; and cousin, Kim (Cindy) Place, Bismarck, ND.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; aunt and uncle, Betty and George Place; uncle, Dave (Winnie) Fullerton; and cousin, Larry (Bette) Trollope.
Upon Sandy’s wishes her body will be cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral service. A mass will be held in her name at St. Joseph Cathedral, LaCrosse, WI on Tuesday September 26th, 2017 at 12:10 pm and at St. Paul’s Catholic Center, UW Campus, Madison, WI at a later date.
