Winifred M. (Miller) Offerdahl

December 2, 1913 ~ March 9, 2018 (age 104)


Winifred M. Offerdahl was born December 2, 1913 in Madison, the daughter of William and Anna (Speth) Miller.  She attended St. Bernard Grade School and graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1931.  Winnie then worked for the Holstein-Friesian Association.

She married Perry E. Offerdahl on September 16, 1937 at St. Bernard Rectory by Reverend William Eggers.  For twenty-three years she worked for H.S. Manchester Department Store, retiring in 1977.  Over a period of years she and her husband enjoyed many interesting trips, one being to Hawaii with their son William (Amy) and family.  She was a member of Catholic Society of Foresters, The Daughters of Isabella, Women of St. Bernard, and a member of the Madison Elks Club.

She is survived by her son William (Amy) Offerdahl, two grandsons, Perry J. Offerdahl and Brian J. Offerdahl; a great-granddaughter Amanda (Brian) Basham; great-great grandchildren, Addison and Owen; niece Carolyn (Stanley) Schmelzer of Melbourne, FL; nephews Thomas Miller of Mt. Horeb, James (Nancy) Miller of Carmel, IN, Michael (Diane) Miller of Wisconsin Rapids and Daniel McKitrick; niece Patricia Ridenaur of Bartlett, IL; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Perry E. Offerdahl on November 13, 1984, having celebrated forty-seven years together; her parents; three sisters, Cecilia, Norberta and Ledwina Miller; brother Wilbur (Marian) Miller Miller; and sister-in-law Gladys (Roland) McKitrick.

Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Winifred’s name to St. Bernard Catholic Church, Madison or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
