Obituary For Adolf "Joe" J. Staubli Jr.
Adolf J. Staubli, age 96, passed away on Saturday, June 18th at Oakwood Village Skilled Nursing following a stroke. For the 6 weeks that followed the stroke, he continued to fight and showed us all to never to give up. His will to live is something we will never forget.
Everywhere Joe went, we always heard he was the sweetest man, and he was. He loved his family and was always there to help when needed, without thought or hesitation.
He was born on April 20, 1926, on a farm outside of Monroe and saw plenty in his 96 years. He would share with us his many adventures and his love of animals.
During WWII, he worked the farm so many people could eat. He was called to active duty in the 50's where he spent time as a Communications Specialist. He was very proud to serve in the US Army.
He married the love of his life, Rita on October 11, 1958. They were married just shy of 60 years before Rita passed away in 2018. In those 60 years they had many adventures, including many camping trips and travel. He purchased two properties, Hooperville and Whitecreek, where we all learned how to work hard, play hard and to love family, thru many celebrations.
Joe was an avid VW fan. He worked on them and gave his kids Beetles when they were able to drive. He belonged to the Madison VW club for many years, where he showed off his hard work with daughter Kathleen in several car shows.
He worked for the city of Madison, where he was involved during a troubled time in the 60's and 70's. He loved the city he worked for and retired in 1995 as a Streets Supervisor.
He loved to play Euchre at family gatherings and we knew once the fists were hitting the table, he was having the best time and his laughter was contagious.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife and long-time sweetheart, Rita; his dad, Adolf; mother, Rose; brother, Marvin; sisters, Helen and Alice; and daughter, Kathleen Staubli
Joe is survived by his children, Randy (Marcia) Staubli, Renee (Matt) Wilfong and Vicky (Jeff) Porter; grandchildren, Justin Staubli, Trevor (Katie) Staubli, Amanda (Jared) Kulow, Logan (Kady) Wilfong, Collette Wilfong, Heather and Jon Porter; great-grandson, Brayden Coates; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was the Patriarch of the family and thru his 96 years touched many lives. He will be missed, but forever in our hearts.
Dad, for many years there was an empty chair at the table. The group is now complete. Euchre on dear Dad. They've been waiting for you.
Private services will be held. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Madison.
Special thanks to Agrace Hospice and the wonderful caring staff at Oakwood Village.
