Obituary
DeForest-
Audrey Ida (Kampen) Ihland, age 90, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Columbia Health Care Center, Wyocena. Audrey was born December 17, 1933, the daughter of Carl F.H. and Alice (Helmke) Kampen. She graduated from DeForest High School in 1952 and married Wayne Ihland on May 16, 1953 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Leeds.
After graduation, Audrey worked at Ohio Chemical for three years, then two years at IBM in the Service Bureau. In 1958 she started working at Oscar Mayer in the computer room and retired in 1992 after working there 34 years.
Audrey enjoyed traveling with Wayne and their many friends, especially their trips to Hawaii, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, the Holy Lands and the many bus trips throughout the United States. She also coordinated a ladies’ bus trip to the annual Gem and Jewelry Show in Chicago for 22 years. She loved playing cards, especially her many euchre and sheepshead games. In her earlier years, Audrey enjoyed taking care of their lawn, garden and flowers, and their beautifully maintained yard was evidence of it.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Cathy (Bredeson) Kampen, Shirley Bostad, RuthAnn (Jerry) Dobbs, and Gwen Peirce; brother-in-law, David (Diane) Ihland and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne on December 12, 2022; her parents, Carl and Alice Kampen, who were killed in a car accident on November 21, 1971; her brother, Lawrence Kampen, who died of cancer on August 31, 1994; her in-laws, Ove and Stella Ihland; and brothers-in-law, Mickey Bostad and Jim Peirce.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, South Leeds, with Pastor Schwertfeger and Pastor Scott officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery with lunch following at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Columbia County Health Care Center.

I knew Audrey because Wayne did tile work for me when I moved to DeForest in 1985. She was a strikingly beautiful woman, with a personality to match. I'm sad for those she left behind, but glad she and Wayne are united again.

I am sorry for those left behind We worked together from 1970-when she retired in 1992. She was one Classy Lady. She was well liked by everyone who worked or knew her at work. She was a hard worker as a Computer Operator. She is now in a better place with all that's going on in our Country. Bob Wendt Nokomis,Fl
