Born in Sheboygan on January 11th, 1930, Barbara attended St. Clement Grade School and North High School. She studied at Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest, IL and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating with a B.S. in Nutritional Science and Food Service Management. On October 28th,1972, she married her lifetime love John Edler White of St. Louis, Missouri. Together, they shared many years entertaining friends and family at their dream house in Cross Plains. Barbara also enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, traveling, volunteering, and dining out at favorite restaurants and supper clubs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. Barbara will always be remembered for her deep kindness, positive spirit, and loving acceptance for all people. She will be missed; however, in her words, she would say “you’re not losing me, I’m just going somewhere different, somewhere better.”

Aunt Barb lived a long and happy life. She was enthusiastic and up for new adventures. She was my Godmother and I know she is resting with God in Heaven.

My husband and I had the pleasure of attending several of Barbara and John's winter sauerbraten dinners They were such gracious hosts, making certain we met the regulars in an elegant environment of charm from a bygone era. Hot toddies served in casual elegance, warmed by that huge fireplace. .. John would offer each of us from a variety tray of after dinner liquours as we lingered in conversation at table. In time the men adjourned back to the toasty living area while the gals would help clear table. Was it Mary who would take over putting things in order? It has been a number of yrs, but that younger gal seemed so willing and happy taking charge of quite a mound of dirty dishes, etc. A chance meeting some yrs later, Barbara, Rosemary Berchem and I had a delightful reunion at a church event. Since then my husband Ross died. I would like to think that John, Barbara and Ross will reunite in eternal life and continue to celebrate goodness. Memories keep them all very much alive for now. Alice and I knew Barb White well over the years. We got to know her through John and were lucky to attend many of the grand Christmas parties where Barb's elegant style and graciousness was so wonderful to experience. After John's passing we got together with Barb every year particularly as she was our guest at the yearly St. Paul's Wine Fest. We saw her most recently just as she was moving into AllSaints, having a happy lunch together with her at Panera. We really enjoyed knowing Barb, and we will miss her for sure.

We would like to express our gratitude for the sad news of the passing of Barbara Meyer White. Even though we did not know her personally, we felt a familial and heartfelt connection with Barbara. Through her mother Ida, born Bollenbeck, her grandfather Josef Bollenbeck, and his father Christian, who brought the name Bollenbeck from Bornheim (Sechtem) to the United States of America in 1850, we share common roots and are closely related. Our special condolences go out to her daughter Barbara and to all those who loved and valued the deceased. We ask that they accept our sincere sympathy and heartfelt compassion during this difficult time. Although we cannot come to the USA in person at such short notice, we are pleased to be able to attend the funeral and burial virtually. With sincere condolences from Germany, Marita Schöche-Bollenbeck and Norbert Bollenbeck

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
