DeForest – Barbara “Barb” A. Noltemeyer, age 83, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. She was born in Arlington, Wisconsin on December 17, 1938, the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Palmer) Noltemeyer. Barb received her bachelor’s degree from UW Lacrosse and worked as a Phy Ed teacher for many years. Barb had a passion for golf, she once had a hole in one. Barbs family liked to play games and Barb loved to play cards especially Sheepshead. Barb was honest, caring and sometimes sassy. She was most of all, family oriented. In Barb’s own words, “She has the best family in the whole world.”

Barb is survived by her long-time partner, Jackie Dahms; sisters, Sharon (Marge Jones) Noltemeyer, Sue (Dean) Teeter, and Lois (Vila Seefeldt) Noltemeyer; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her parents.

Barb was pretty good at playing "Hand and Foot" too and she and Steve just loved beating the Dahms girls! We'll miss all those wonderful times we shared with Barb. Carol and Steve Reigh

We will certainly miss seeing Barb when visiting Wisconsin and at their home in Arizona. What fun times we have shared with many laughs! She could grill a great tenderloin and most always beat us at golf! Our prayers go out to Jackie and the entire Noltemeyer family!
    Much love.Roz and Jeanne

Barb was a former physical education teacher of mine at Portage. Thanks to her and other Phy. Ed. teachers at Portage my career path began.
My interest in sports continued through the Girls Athletic Association program that Barb started and supervised.
Before Barb retired I had the opportunity to work with Barb at the elementary level as a colleague.
A memory of Barb that stands out from 1974 was when Barb came to Madison West to watch Portage girls volleyball play sectionals against West. She was the only teacher that came to watch. (We won against West and played at state.)
My condolences to Jackie, family and friends of Barb. She was a dedicated teacher!

    Sincerely,
    Julie (Lobenstein) Jordahl

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
