Constance Disrud

Obituary

Madison – Constance “Connie” Jean Disrud, age 85, passed away on August 13, 2024, at Prairie Gardens Assisted Living in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She was born on December 16, 1938, in Janesville, Wisconsin to parents Mark and Ellen (Murphy) Gavigan.

Connie was an unbelievable person who touched so many lives with her kind and gentle soul. Those who knew Connie were blessed to have known a one-of-a-kind person who would extend kindness and love to all those she meet…..and most likely a cookie or treat of some kind as well! She had an incredible attitude and would not complain about the challenges life gave her, but instead lean into her faith to guide her through those challenging times often saying ‘I have been so blessed, things could always be worse’ with a little shrug and smile.

Family was everything to Connie. She was married to the love of her life Jerry Disrud for 57 years, before he passed away in 2015. Together they raised four children. Family meals were especially important to her, and she could make a feast out of ‘just a few items she had in the house.’ She was also an incredible grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with the grandchildren and was immensely proud of whatever they were doing.

Connie was a beautician by trade but her compassion and caring for people was the center of who she was and spent over 40 years working at Sunny Hill Nursing Home doing various jobs caring for the elderly.

She is survived by her children Laurie (Rick) Ellie, Theresa (Steve) McKenzie, and Ann (Rob) Hamilton. Her grandchildren Alyssa (Andrew), Ryan (Cassie Johnson), David (Ashley), Joseph McKenzie and Drew (Steph), Ty, Leah and Davis Hamilton and great grandchildren Addison, Aubrey and Keeley. Her brother Mark (Sue) Gavigan and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Tommy and Gene, sister Mary; her son Tom and granddaughters Megan Ellie and Carly Hamilton.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Sun Prairie Food Pantry, especially Gayle, for their kindness to our mother. Also, Prairie Gardens and their staff for taking such wonderful care of Connie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sun Prairie Food Pantry, PO Box 307, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 or online at sunshineplace.org. Please list in Memory of Connie Disrud.

Connie taught all of us love and for that we are forever blessed!

~ I remember Connie very well from the Sunny Hill days of the mid 1980's. She did everything from making breakfast to being a nursing assistant. She did an amazing job on making those ladies look so beautiful when she was done with their hair. She would always make sure they saw how pretty they looked. That was her many gifts. ♥️ She had a strong faith and wore her heart on her sleeve. She was so kind and made you feel very much loved. I use to go to her house and make chocolate chip cookies because Jerry loved mine. She lived her life to the fullest and was in the true spirit of service towards others. I have missed her much over the years. I can't help but wonder; who was happier to who?? When her and Tom reunited, almost forty years later. The obituary was a lovely tribute to her life. May she rest in peace and joy with all her loved ones. I am sorry for your family's loss. She touched everyone in some special way. May your memories of her, help you. She will be the brightest new ⭐ star in the night sky. 🌌 My thoughts & Peace to you all. Sincerely, Robin Kroetz
