Obituary

MADISON – Daniel L. Riddle, age 63, left us on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Madison VA Hospital after a long battle with an illness. Dan was born on September 17, 1960, in Madison, WI to Lawrence and Judith Riddle. He grew up on the north side of Madison and never left. After high school he enlisted in the US Army Reserves and served for more than 20 years. Dan worked for Franklin Electric in McFarland, WI for several decades, retiring in September of 2023. He was a member of the Yahara Fishing Club where he enjoyed and shared his love for fishing. Dan looked forward to deer and turkey hunting on his brother’s land in Plain, WI. He found gardening as another of his life’s pleasures, working the land and helping other gardeners. Dan was mechanically gifted and was always willing to help people fix what needed fixin’. He is going to leave a big void to all that reached out to him for help.

Dan is survived by his mother, Judith Hayward; and brother, Scott Riddle. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends. Dan is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Riddle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW 8483, 5737 County Road CV, Madison on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 11:00am-3:00pm with Full Military Honors at NOON.

A special thanks to the Madison VA Hospital and Agrace Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yahara Fishing Club, PO Box 259803 Madison, WI 53725, in Dan’s name. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com

Danny was a great cousin to grow up with. When our families would get together it was always a good time filled with fun and laughter. Before they moved to the Northside, they had a fruit & vegetable stand down the street. All us kids would walk down there for something to do. I don't know why, but it is a sweet memory for me.

private- Scott and Judy- I was so sad to hear of the passing of Danny. I spent many years with Dan "the man" as Jeff referred to him as. I have some pictures of him with Jeff and others. I recall many times when Dan would tell my husband, I'm not hitting on your wife...she is my sister. He would tell me all the adventures with Scott, Gardening and Hunting. He loved you ALL so very much. He shared recipes with me and was such an awesome cook. I'm so so sorry for your loss.

I gardened with Dan at Black Hawk Community Garden for many years and as a leader, was so grateful for his expertise with the equipment and helpfulness with any odd jobs or maintenance issues. He gave way more hours of service each year than were required, and his garden plot was a picture as well. Dan will be sorely missed by us all. We share your loss. Sue Simon
