Obituary For David "Dave" "Murph" M. Murphy
Verona — David M. Murphy, age 74, passed away with his daughters by his side, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on January 11, 1948, in Dodgeville, WI, the son of Camillus and Theresa (Ruppert) Murphy. Dave had a life-long career as a painter and retired from the State of Wisconsin after 29 years, in 2011. He was a member of Painter’s Local #802.
David, lovingly known as “Murph” was passionate about and spent as much time as he could, hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He was so proud of raising his two daughters, Shelly and Missy. In his life-long recovery, Dave opened his home and devoted his time to mentoring and sponsoring those with addiction. He met many wonderful people through his years at the Fitchburg Serenity Club. You could often find him at It’s Time Grill, Kwik Trip, visiting and having his morning coffee or sitting on the tailgate of his truck.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle “Shelly” (John “Pat”) Mason and Melissa “Missy” (Brian) Karpinski; 5 grandchildren, Charlie, Lily, Trent, CeCe and Mitchel; sister, Sharon Prazak of Florida; sister-in-law, Abigail Murphy of Texas; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert, Ronald and William Murphy.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home, Verona Chapel, 220 Enterprise Drive. A private family interment will be held at St. Bridget Cemetery, Ridgeway.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hermus, the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and his dear friends, Dave and Colleen Downing, Chad Meyer, Martin LaCour and Dan Meyer for their friendship and support over the years.

what our families say
Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
