Obituary For Eric Christopher Feinstein

MADISON - Eric Christopher Feinstein, loving husband and devoted father, died suddenly on December 29, 2022.

Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, Eric grew up in Medina, Ohio before the family moved to Homewood, Illinois. Eric graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 1990 and later moved to Madison, WI in 1994. Eric held several positions within the hospitality industry and also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Middleton Fire Department. Eric truly had a one-of-a-kind personality that people gravitated to and had the unique ability to connect with everyone he met. This made him uniquely successful in customer service and sales management. He held positions at Marriott - Madison West, The Fluno Center, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless and most recently at Humana.

It was during his employment at the Marriott Madison West that Eric met the love of his life, Marlene Lintelmann. They married on August 1, 2003. Eric and Marlene loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, pool and games. To Eric, everything was a competition regardless of whether it required athletic ability.

Eric’s life was forever changed when his oldest son Caden was born in May, 2006, followed by Carson in December, 2009. Eric’s life revolved around his boys, and they did everything together. “It’s like having your best friend with you everyday” Eric would regularly say as he taught his boys how to play football, go fishing, ride bikes, and how to recognize and appreciate the hilarity of everyday life. His boys learned at an early age that his beloved Chicago Bears were a far superior team to Marlene’s Green Bay Packers, even when the record didn’t reflect it. Eric loved watching his boys compete in soccer, football and hockey. He was a true hockey dad, spending every weekend at games with one of the boys while watching a live-stream of the other’s games.

Eric is survived by his wife, Marlene, his sons Caden and Carson, his faithful canine companion Ellie, his mom Joan (Terry) Rogers, his dad Joel (Mary Prusank) Feinstein, his father-in-law Fred (Karen Thorp) Lintelmann, his siblings Jennifer (Kevin) Stevens, Ron (Holly Addis) Feinstein, Amy Feinstein, Sarah (Chris) DeFosset, Emily (Joe Kaufman) Feinstein, Jessica (Josh) Rutherford, Sam Feinstein, Manuel Rogers, his brothers-in-law Bob (Jennifer) Lintelmann, Dale (Terry D’Angelo) Lintelmann and Randy (Kathy Konicheck) Cacic, his beloved nieces and nephews Hannah Feinstein, Jon, Beth and Josh Stevens, Jakob and Mollie DeFosset, Rachael and Ethan Feinstein, Max and Caroline Kaufman, Magnus Rutherford, Brian (Morgan) Cacic, Anna (David) Haverberg and Katie (Taylor Kerber) Lintelmann, his grand niece and nephew Avery and Brewer Cacic, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Jeanne Hlavac, his Bubie and Zadie, Sara and Sherman Feinstein, his mother-in-law Joanne Lintelmann, his sisters-in-law Karen Cacic and Diane Lintelmann and his nephew TJ Stevens.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Dahmen’s at Hawk’s Landing, 88 Hawk’s Landing Circle, Verona, WI 53593. Guests may start to arrive at 4:30 pm; there will be a tribute at 5:30 pm.

Eric absolutely loved life and lived it to its fullest. We will miss him more than words can express.

“Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again”.

My most sincere apologies for not being present at the Celebration of life, nothing can replace a good solid hug from your family in a difficult time. Some of my fondest memories with Eric are those we shared as kids, that old house on Harding street (next to the bowling alley), the Kurlich farm, and any one of a few campgrounds. We all had so much fun exploring, jamming to that boom box & hanging out with each other. Eric was one of those guys who brought life to any situation, his candidness & genuine sense of humor were a true blessing to us all. His positive attitude and friendly demeanor made a meaningful impact on those around him. Michelle & I would like to extend our deepest condolence to Joan, Joel, Marlene, the boys & the entire family. May you find serenity in the knowledge that Eric forever rests in the loving embrace of our heavenly father.

My deepest condolences. Eric was a great man. The world is a little bit dimmer now without his bright shinning light in it. He was so funny and so welcoming. I will never forget his laugh, his smile and his generosity.

A four day trip to the Ozarks was the only in-person meeting I had with Eric. It was clear to me that he was living a charmed life with his wife Marlene and their boys. Gone too soon, but with his hospitality background, perhaps setting up the venue for when they all meet again. I bet it will be decorated in Bears regalia.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
