So sad to hear about Gene's passing. He was such a good man, who brought joy and laughter into many lives. Our family got to know him through Boy Scouts, and he became a dear friend to all of us. He insisted that my sons could not marry until he approved of the prospective spouses. Sara Blaise passed the test, and Andy married her; too bad that Covid prevented Shannon from getting Gene's approval. We all have so many fond memories. No game of euchre will ever be played by us without thinking of Gene. Rest in peace.

Gene was a great man and good friend. He volunteered for cub scouts and then Boy Scouts and many other places that needed help. He was like a father for many of us and would always have time for anyone even if it was just to talk. He was very kind and giving of himself. I will miss him very much.

Mr Eagan, thanks for all your volunteer BSA campouts and indian dances. RIP Gene !

Dear Geno-O Such a joy to witness his pleasure volunteering at the school, and the delight he had to use his power chair and venture downtown unassisted to meet all of his friends in the community. I was activity director with him years ago, and found that he needed no direction, just the contacts to keep doing what he loved. Much appreciation to his family for supporting him in being as independent as he could be. Kathy White

Mr. Eagan lived on the corner, just down from the house my family grew up in. I remember how kind he was to everyone and how much all the neighborhood kids loved playing his backyard. Mr. Eagan also had a cabin in Avoca that he invited many of us to stay at during the men's softball tournaments each summer. Some very special memories were made there. What a wonderful man. My condolences to his son Gene and Brother Fr. Joseph.

I met Gene when I was just 8 years old. He was a Cub Scout leader when I joined. He moved onto Boy Scout where we stayed close friends for 58 years. Gene was one of my best and closest friends. We probably went on over 400 campouts together. I miss him already. Thanks Gene for all the memories and laughs. Rest in peace.

Geno was a great friend. We have known him for years. He used to live close by us in Madison years ago. He helped so many people and was the kindest person we have known. RIP my dear friend.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
