Dear Anne and family, We were so sorry to learn of Eugene's passing. He was always kind to me when I made deliveries to your home. We pray for all of you, as you continue to navigate your lives without his physical presence. May he rest in peace and watch over you. Nick Ferry

I knew Mort from a project we worked on together in 2019 - I enjoyed every meeting I had with him, he was such a genuine and sweet person, easy to work with but above all very caring and passionate. We shared a love for motorcycles and kept in touch after the project - seeing pictures from his trips and hearing about his projects was always such a joy. I just found out about what happened because I tried to shoot him an update E-Mail and am taken aback by the news. I will always remember Mort as one of my nicest clients and one of the most genuine people I ever met. Rest in peace.

Anne & family; Over 20 years ago I moved in next door and had no idea of the privilege that it was. Friendly conversations definitely, but so much more. Eugene was always that neighbor to step in and help anyone who needed it & I needed at times. From helping complete trimming my windows, removing an injured bird from my yard, investigating strange sounds in my garage, to showing up in his 4 wheeler to clear the icey mess at the end of my driveway after the snow plow had passed, that was Eugene. A bright smile and friendly wave always, please know how thankful I am and what a special place Eugene holds. Thank you Eugene, Diana

I had the pleasure of working alongside Mort for many years at a point in my career when I still had much to learn. Mort was so talented professionally - he was careful in his analysis, precise, not afraid to take a risk but also very measured. If he said something was possible, it was. If he said it wasn't, it wasn't. But much more than that, Mort was kind, patient, a team player and an incredibly stable presence in a business environment that could often be anything but. I learned a lot from his quiet, steady leadership. My sincerest condolences to Anne and his family. I can only imagine what this loss has meant to you. Sending love.

Not only was he a very competent professional, but he was also a nice and positive person to interact with. We have lost a good man that will be missed. May he rest in peace, and may God comfort and bless all of you.

Is all the love in the world even enough right now? I want it for this family. It's likely that all of the sentiments I have ever sent Anne and Eugene have been spelled incorrectly (son). They never corrected me. What comes to mind when I think of Eugene, beyond his phenomenal family, is that he is always, ALWAYS happy and positive. It's almost unfathomable, but true. I will always recall how it was the Eugene/Anne team that got me back to NL for our kindergarten teacher's, Mrs. Mitchell, retirement party at the high school. It is something that I have appreciated ever since and I doubt that I thanked them. Anne and Eugene instinctively make a person feel worthy--without effort. The hearts of this team are mutant large. I want to also mention how much of a stud athlete Eugene was--every single sport--minus the ego.....an amazing young man. I am so sorry for this loss.

No words......... Cannot imagine😢😢 Memory! When Mike left for Louisville, KY to school for three months, the day he left, our son Jeff wanted to take the boat out to the lake with Chris Mortenson . They wanted to waterski and I told them they could not because they didn't have a spotter. So they let little brother Eugene tag along to be the spotter. Jeff comes home with a citation from the DNR because he and Chris decided to ski double and let Eugene drive the boat! Not only did they not have a spotter, Eugene was underage to operate the boat! The citation was for allowing an underage person operate the vessel. Poor Eugene got dragged into the criminal side of life 😜

I'm so extremely sorry. There is nothing to take the pain away, but knowing in time the pain won't be so excruciating. I will never forget when you and Eugene visited me in the hospital. He was a big spirit. Kris and Eugene will be watching over you all. Love you so. Karla

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
