Obituary For Gary Alan Niemczyk

Madison-Gary Alan Niemczyk, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 13, 2023. He was born on September 18, 1972, in Madison, WI to Thomas and Cheryl Niemczyk.

Gary lived on the north side of Madison and attended East High School where he made many friends and enjoyed playing football. He had a lifelong passion for football which included playing, watching, and coaching in Madison and Portage. He worked in Baraboo as a plumber for some time before moving back to Madison to work for Fox Water and Capitol Water Softener most recently.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the campground, fishing, hunting, watching the Packers and Badgers, or enjoying a cold Pabst. Gary left many close friends that thought of him as a brother from another mother. He was always making people smile and laugh with a song, a goofy face, or a funny story.

Gary is survived by his father Tom Niemczyk; sisters Connie Martinson (Eric), Julie Niemczyk; nieces Brittany Brugger (Josh), Shelby Martinson, Jadyn Larson; nephews Dylan Martinson, Nathyn Martinson, Jacob Larson; great nieces Ayla and Stella Brugger; uncle Steve Niemczyk; aunt Nancy Dvorak; brother from another mother Roger Atkinson and many other cousins and very close friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Gertrude, Lloyd, Barney, and Meredeth (Pinky), and his mother Cheryl.

As a testament to his amazing character, Gary has left a legacy through his gift of organ donation so that multiple people may continue their lives with the ones they loved, as he loved all of us.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date.

I went to Gompers Middle School with Gary. I remember Gary as a nice guy with a coy smile! Rest in peace my friend!

Gary was a good guy! I'm the older sister of one of his Brother Crew from East High (Tom Hoffman). Gary had a great smile and a way of being able to "chew the fat" with everyone. He could make a perfectly fried egg, TRIED to teach me how, and said his grandpa showed him. I didn't know him well but if I had to define Gary I would say CONTENT, that alone is a huge accomplishment for anyone. May all who knew him rest easier knowing he spread good humor and kindness to all.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
