Obituaries

WINDSOR – Gordon Kenneth Cook, age 67, passed away on May 22, 2022 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI. He was born on January 26, 1955 in Malone, NY to parents, Allen and Mary (Irvine) Cook. Gordon graduated from high school in Chateaugay, NY. He then went on to study military history, earning his bachelor’s degree from UW Madison, as a member of the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity. He joined the United States Army and served his country for nine years, reaching the rank of Captain. Gordon married Meg Gillespie on August 9, 1998 in Windsor, WI.

During his career, Gordon worked for Farm & Fleet, A to Z Rental, and Ace Hardware in Cottage Grove, retiring in 2016. He loved to spend his time reading, fishing, and grilling. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel, and rabbit. Gordon, fondly known as “Grumps” to his two granddaughters, will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Meg Gillespie Cook; stepson, Alex (Karianne) Bauer; granddaughters, Ava and Aubrey; brother, Carlton Cook; nephew, Allen Cook; brother-in-law, Rob (Linda) Gillespie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Gertrude (Weber) Gillespie; and brother, Alexander “Sandy” Cook.

A celebration of life will take place at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Rd., DeForest, WI. To celebrate Gordon’s life, please bring your smiles and wear bright, colorful clothing. A visitation will be held one hour prior, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
