Janel J. Oster, age 61, passed away on Sunday, April 14th, 2024, at her home in Deforest, WI.

Janel was born on September 29th, 1962, in Hazen, ND, to Ernest and Virginia (Toepke) Oster. She graduated from Hazen High School in 1980, and after attended The University of North Dakota. After moving to Madison, WI she had three children and later attended UW Madison, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2000. Some of her favorite past times were gardening, hiking, boating, and biking with loved ones. The family took many cross-country trips, which brought countless memories. She worked at American Family Insurance as a Senior Budget Analyst and later went on to obtain her MBA from Upper Iowa University in 2013. Janel finished her accounting career working for The University of Wisconsin Madison, retiring in 2019. Her time in Wisconsin grew her love for the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers which she enjoyed watching and attending games. Janel had a deep love for animals especially her three cats Cookie, Sheldon, and Sparty; however, her biggest joy in life came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Janel is survived by her father Ernest Oster; children, Lucas (Kristi) Heid, Cydney (Troy) Zeman, and Kendelle Heid; three grandchildren, Owen, Jace, and Charlotte; her sister, Joan Oster Chiarello; nieces, Ally and Bri; nephew, Nick; as well as multiple beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia (Toepke) Oster.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Fisher Valley Felines.
