Obituary For Judith A. Nelson (Calnin)
Madison - Judith A. Nelson (Calnin), age 73, unexpectedly passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at home. She was born October 14, 1949 in Montello, WI to parents John and Florence (Krentz) Calnin.
Judith graduated from Madison East High School in 1967 and attended one year at UW-Whitewater. She started her career shortly after as a Service Rep at AT&T where she worked for 38 years.
She was a hardworking, single mom for many years raising her son Charlie on her own. She later met and married Donald Nelson who had 2 daughters and Judi instantly became a great stepmom.
She was an animal lover who loved feeding the birds and the squirrels and whatever other critters that came onto her deck. Over the years she had numerous dogs and cats that she adored.
Judi cared deeply for her family, helping to care for her parents, babysitting her grand-daughters and she never missed anyone’s Birthdays. She was an awesome lady with a great laugh who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Judith is survived by her son, Charlie (Amber) Denson, 2 step-daughters, Debra Burmah & Melissa (Dean) Herman; grandchildren Zoe Denson, Mariah, Alyssa and Trevor Burmah, Isabella, Tanner, Brandon Herman and Jazmin Crouch; great grandchildren Tryone, Larissa, Jacyn, Liam and Lane. She is further survived by her siblings, Mike, Tom and Tim Calnin, Jayne Johnson, Joan Smart & Pat Watters and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, John & Florence Calnin, her husband Donald Nelson and her nephew.
A special thank you to her nephew Mike Labelle along with Krissy, Bree, Roy and Dakota for helping with the house the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm and Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N Sherman Ave. A brief prayer service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
