Obituary For Julie Ann Olson

Julie A. Olson, 72, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 31st. She was born to Betty (Hauer) and Orville Olson in Ashland, Wisconsin on December 6, 1950. Julie grew up in Ashland and Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School. Her career revolved around the health care arena in various ways; teaching medical terminology, working for a health insurance company, several medical clinics, and doing medical transcription. Julie's faith in Jesus was an integral part of who she was. She has had many health challenges in the past few years, but always insisted she was so blessed. Her recliner was her work place where she held daily prayer vigils. She was a prayer warrior and spent many hours talking to Jesus there. Julie was a member of City on a Hill church in Fitchburg, where she loved and enjoyed her church family. Julie was known by many; those who knew her for years, those whom she met at the gas station, the grocery store, in a restaurant, at a medical facility, or at a stop light. She was loved by all. She had an amazing sense of humor and could always be counted on for a good laugh. Julie was an amazingly generous person who shared without reserve from whatever she had. For a while she became the Guardian Baker, baking sweet treats, birthday cakes and cookies for multiple charitable organizations. She invited co-workers to join her in her endeavor and would spend her evenings and weekends baking up a storm. She insisted on remaining anonymous, so some co-workers were drafted to do deliveries for her. Julie was also a sous chef at Quivey's Grove assisting her favorite Chef Ed creating amazing food. This led to the realization of her life-long dream of publishing her own cookbook, The Guardian Gourmet, which she did in 2010. She still had a few copies left and was signing and giving them to special people she met along the way. Julie was predeceased by her parents, a brother Lee, and her favorite four-legged friend Pebbles. She is survived by sisters Shirley Larson and Connie Hodge, nieces Donna Hodge (Nana-bug), Stacy (Olson) Schilling, DeAnn Sturdivant, nephews Clint Hodge, Craig Olson, Scott Olson, Brian Larson, Brad Larson, and Dan Larson. She is further survived by many, many friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 5th, 5-7pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Rd, Madison. Funeral services will be at City on a Hill, 2924 Fish Hatchery Rd, Fitchburg, at 11 am. on Tuesday, June 6th.

Julie was a 'repeat customer' in home health therapies, having completed 2 episodes of in-home therapy in the past year, and I am so so privileged to have been her Occupational Therapist. Her faith was deep and her humor was that of a stand-up comedian, and she even admitted that she'd wanted to do stand-up once upon a time! I've rarely laughed so much with a home health client and will cherish all she taught me, and the fabulous cookbook, all my days.. your Champagne Torte that I made for Memorial Day this year was just as divine as you, Julie!!

Julie and I worked together at The Monroe Clinic. She was the supervisor of medical transcription while I was the Nursing director! Right from the start, we had an amazing friendship along with a high level of support for each other in our responsibilities at work. Together we made all (dozens) the cookies for the Children's Christmas Party held at the clinic for children of the employees. Several evenings of baking and laughing as Julie had an amazing sense of humor! A memory I will always cherish is a hayride we planned for coworkers, unfortunately Julie pulled a muscle in her leg getting on or off the wagon but that did not interfere with the fun she would have telling stories and entertaining with her humor! Unfortunately, the time we spent together was less and less after Julie moved to Madison. I will miss her Christmas letter and forever cherish the memories I have of our time together. I was truly blessed to know Julie!

Although I didn't work directly with Julie at WEA Trust, I remember quite clearly her smile, her laughter and her generosity. And when she was doing the Guardian Baker work, I remember her telling me that people in the homeless shelter deserved better than the regular day-old or week-old cookies that were donated by stores. They deserved fresh and delicious food made with love especially for them. It takes a special soul to spread that sort of love and to recognize that we are all children of God. I'm sad that you are no longer with us, Julie, but I trust you are surrounded by love and peace. I hope that your family is comforted by knowing how many lives you touched with your love.

I roomed with Julie in Marshfield in the early 1970's. She was always so friendly and caring person. Lost track of her when she moved away. So sorry for your loss. With deepest sympathies!

My deepest sympathies to her family at this time. And to all those who knew her. Cherish the memories 🙏

Julie brought a smile to my face every time I ran into her at the WEA Trust. She had a quick wit and heart of gold. I still think with fond memories of the beautiful carrot cake she made for me at my retirement. What a talented, unforgettable, and truly wonderful woman.

I had the privilege of working with Julie at the Trust. I was then blessed to be reunited with her at Metcalfes Market. She was a joy to everyone at the front end. We will miss you Julie. You are now one of our beautiful angels to watch over us. ❤️ Meg

I can vouch for Julie's sense of humor and her continuous attitude of gratitude. Thank you Lynn W. for inviting me to join you and Julie at Brewer game - one of Julie's favorite teams, and a wonderful memory.

I have known Julie since junior high, and I have very fond memories of all the things we did together. She was always able to make anyone feel better with her contagious smile and warm personality. I will definitely think of her every time I make one of the recipes from her cookbook. what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
