Obituary For Kathleen "Kay" Kruse

POYNETTE – Kathleen “Kay” Kruse, age 79, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on September 29, 2022. She was born in Madison, WI on February 23, 1943, to parents Kenneth and Mary Lu (Brady) Meehan.

Kay was a 1961 graduate of Middleton High School where she enjoyed years of cheerleading. She earned her degree in accounting from Madison Technical College. She worked hard to raise her five daughters and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kay had a passion for camping and campfires. She enjoyed family weekend trips to Fish Lake in Lodi, WI. She loved working in her flower garden and crafting. She was skilled in making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and many other crafts that she enjoyed making for family members and teaching her grandchildren to share the love of crafting.

Kay will be missed dearly and remembered as a hardworking, faithful, strong woman who, although struggled with many physical ailments, never did she diminish her steadfast friendships, her loving heart nor her unwavering spirit.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Kim Schmitt, Karri Hubanks (Seth Morris), Kris Werner (Mike Frank), Korinne (Jason) Kelley, Katrice (Mike) Stoltenberg; grandchildren, Shani (Boomer), Breanna (Roman), Sam, Nikita (Jesse), Cory, Jenna, Sammy (Josh), Lyndsie (Kyle), Dahlton, Lawson, Shelby, Casey, and Mikey; great-grandchildren, Roman “RJ”, Jovie, Kelten, Charlie, and Felix; siblings, Mary (Larry) Hendrickson, Pat King, Jim (Gail) Meehan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, William “Bill” Kruse; brother, Mike (Jan) Meehan; and brother-in-law, Bob King.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jane Kjorlie with Angels Helpers for her comfort and friendship to Kay, and to Agrace HospiceCare for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., with a Service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Rd., DeForest, WI. Memorial donations may be made to Agrace HospiceCare.

Auntie Kay was a precious gift in my life! I will miss her every day. Her pain has been wiped away. She will hear the angels sing and see the face of God.

I was honored for many years to be Kay Kruse's physician. She did not have it easy. Her systemic arthritis was severe and disabling. Yet she handled her illness with determination, acceptance, and courage. Self pity was not a part of Kay. I know that Kay did not have a lot of other comforts in life either, but she was always grateful for the love and support she received from her family; children, grandchildren, and faithful siblings. I am sure she had her faults, as we all do, but what I recall is her strength in the face of many health issues as well as her kindness to me and to many others. Pax Tecum- Gregory Sheehy MD

It was a coincidence that I was Kay's caregiver way back in the day. It was so neat to be in her life. I wish I'd spent more time visiting, but she was always M.O.M. (My Other Mom), my heart hurts, but she's no longer limited, she's at peace and I know she's in great company! Sending love to the family. 💛

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
