Obituary For Lorlene Vivian Pulver

Lorlene V. (nee Kahl) Pulver, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022, with her family by her side.

Lorlene was born on October 6, 1931, in Verona WI, the third of six children born to Vernon and Vera (Jones) Kahl in their farmhouse on Maple Drive Dairy located where Nine Mound Road is today. Lorlene attended the Verona Graded school and was a proud graduate of Verona High School Class of 1950. She met Fred W. Pulver at a local dance and after several Polka dances their love grew and eventually they married January 26, 1951. Together they raised six children. Lorlene continued to help raise her growing family by providing unconditional love and care to her 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Lorlene took immense pride in hosting family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, Sunday dinners, and countless sleepovers with her grandchildren. Every year she decorated her house for each occasion and never missed the chance to hide Easter baskets and eggs, dress up for Halloween, bake pies for Thanksgiving, and host Christmas morning never forgetting the stockings and presents under the tree. She filled her home full of love welcoming everyone usually with sweet aromas of freshly baked cookies. She cherished being able to attend numerous concerts, sporting events, dance recitals, school activities, graduations, family reunions, community events and any other activity where she could provide her love and encouragement to her family and friends. She was especially proud of her family’s military service and accomplishments. She never wanted to miss one of her children’s or grandchildren’s special moments.

Even at a young age, Lorlene was a natural performer singing in plays, twirling baton as a drum majorette, and playing the French Horn. Her love of Performing Arts continued into adulthood when she sang with the St. James Choir and performed in a few Verona Area Community Theater productions including ‘Annie’ where she was able to sing and dance on stage with her daughters and granddaughters. After her last curtain closed on her performing days she continued to enjoy several musicals and recitals in the audience with family and friends.

Lorlene spent the majority of her days outside gardening or tending to her flower beds and bushes. She may have moved away from the farm but she always remained passionate about growing her own vegetables and fruits to share with her family and friends—you could often find her outside picking her berries, apples, grapes, pears, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, peas, and green beans. If she wasn’t gardening, she was most likely on the go either swimming in the Verona Quarry, attending Verona Auxiliary Legion events, bowling with friends, playing softball with her daughters, eating Friday Night Fish with her siblings, telling stories with the Verona Historical Society, or eating ice cream with her grandchildren. Lorlene was always willing to go on a new adventure traveling all over the U.S. and beyond especially if it meant to visit a beloved family member.

Lorlene is survived by her four children: Mike, Monica (Dale) Pechan, Marty (Tammy), Renata (Kevin) Henry; first born granddaughter, Brenda Von Behren (daughter of Rick), a son-in-law Dennis Beres; her brothers Ken Kahl and Dale Kahl; sister Merlyn Elver; sister-in-law Shirley Wiederkehr: grandchildren David (April), Shandra (Dan), Wesley, Casey (Levi), Jennifer (Matthew), Adam (Jenn), Alison (Mike), Dawn (Peter), Amara (Dan), Alicia, Andrew (Shelby),

Tim, and Mary (Kyle); great-grandchildren Jarod, Kendra, Elizabeth, Samuel, Abrahm, James, Grace, Drew, Savannah, Augie, Maple, Rowen, Hawthorne, Isaiah, Isabella, Cyrus, Kaden, Lauren, Owen, Archer, Oden, Lucy and Eva. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Lorlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, her son, Rick; her daughter, Lisa, her daughter-in-law Diane (Haag), her grandson Bob Beres; her siblings Maynard, Verna, and Vera.

We will miss your beautiful smile, contagious laughter, and your humor with that little bit of sass. Heaven has gained a beautiful songbird, wearing tap shoes, and may God greet you with extra trimming shears.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 South Main Street, in Verona at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Memorials made to the family will be shared with St. James Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #385 and HospiceCare Inc. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
