Obituary For Margaret (Peggy) Mary Wussow

Verona - Margaret (Peggy) Mary Wussow, 85, passed away September 23, 2022. Peggy was born to John L. and Catherine M. (Crowley) McIlhone, a chemical engineer and a nurse, in Waukesha, WI on September 3, 1937. After raising her children, and earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University, and a Master’s degree in Educational Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Peggy worked for more than 20 years at Kewaunee County Community Program. She counseled clients and was an instrumental force in finding better ways to serve the community and the State of Wisconsin. Later in life she became a Benedictine Oblate through Holy Wisdom Monastery. Peggy was a contemplative thinker, a lifelong learner, a great listener, and a peaceful presence.

Peggy married Dr. Robert F. Chojnacki on October 10, 1959 and they were blessed with 7 loving children. Peggy raised her children with love, patience, and compassion. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to always be creative and head into life with confidence. Later in life Peggy enjoyed collecting art with her second husband, Dr. George C. Wussow, as well as spending her time reading mysteries and creating religious icons. Peggy would say that her greatest achievements in life were her children and grandchildren. Her home was always a sanctuary of comfort and love.

Peggy is survived by six children: Erin (William) Lightfoot; Catherine (John Kelly) Holly; Robert (Cheryl) Chojnacki; Thomas Chojnacki; Mary Chris (John) Fritz, and Anne (Achim) Thomsen, and her first husband, Dr. Robert Chojnacki; 14 grandchildren: Nicole Thomae, Brittney Welsch and Danny Welsch; Matthew Chojnacki and Rachel Pollard; Sara Ohlgren, Megan Miller, Emma Beaumier, Louisa Chojnacki and Nathanael Chojnacki; Arianna Fritz and Anna Fritz; Aidan Thomsen and Henri Thomsen. Also surviving are two sisters, Noreen (Dennis) Filippelli, and JoAnn Weinkauf and one brother, Frank (Elaine) McIlhone; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a daughter, Margaret Chojnacki; a grandson, David Holly; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Chojnacki; brother, John McIlhone; sister-in-law, Rose McIlhone, and brother-in-law, Jay Weinkauf.

The family will celebrate Peggy's life with a private memorial service.

Peggy was a special person whom I was privileged to call a dear friend. We met almost 20 years ago and bonded immediately. I'll miss her beyond description.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
