Obituary
DEFOREST - Roger R. Coffman died peacefully on May 2, 2024, in the CLC Hospice Unit at the Madison VA Hospital. He was 84.
He was born October 8, 1939, in Madison, WI to Ramon Peyton and Nelle Gratton Coffman. He lived in Wisconsin until his family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School in 1957. He was an extra in the movie "Where The Boys Are" in 1960.
He graduated from Yale University in 1961, after which he served in the US Army from 1962 - 1964. He graduated from University of Florida's Law School in June of 1971.
In his later years, he wished he had studied Archeology, because he had acquired a love for ancient documents and history. He enjoyed poker games, football, horse races, especially the Kentucky Derby, and gardening. He lived his life on his own terms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Gene and Peyton, and his sister, Kathy Coffman Davis.
He is survived by five children: Tom, Nikki, Wolf, Katharine, and Crystal; nine grandchildren: including Brandon, Jonathan, Scott, Adam and Jerod; one great-grandson, James, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his best friend for many decades, Tom Cobb.
His final resting place will be in the Mausoleum at Forest Hills Cemetery, 1 Speedway Road in Madison. The service will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel on May 8, 2024, at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Madison VA Hospital, or an organization of your choice. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com

Roger, I admire how you have reached out to heal family ties and build relationships over the past number of years. I believe you are headed to a place now where further healing can happen if that is your desire. I wish you all the best in your transition. May the blessings be! In the spirit of Divine Love, Alan.
