Obituary
Madison, WI -Susan (Brandenberg) Lebergen, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital following a short illness. She was born on November 5, 1944, in Antigo, WI, the daughter of Theresa and Robert Brandenberg. Susan was a graduate of Preble High School class of 1962 and earned a Bachelor’s degree from UW Green Bay in 1972. Susan met Ron Lebergen and they were married November 13, 1965.
During her career she worked in public relations at various hospitals in Appleton and Milwaukee. Being a life-long learner, she earned an Associate’s degree and enjoyed a retirement job at a hospital system’s computer help desk. In retirement Susan spent many winters at their home in Arizona. She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing bridge and watching PBS. Susan and Ron took several fun trips and were able to experience Europe and visit Josie’s family in Germany.
Susan is survived by her husband, daughters Clare Lebergen and Josie Bohlman (Matt), granddaughters Kate and Mia Bohlman, nieces Linda Wigand and Greer Thomas. Lifelong friends Mary (McMonagle) Schwarz and Carol (Arnoldi) Holden. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sally Sinclair, brother George Brandenberg and her in-laws Libbie and Henry Lebergen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00am. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00am on Friday. Burial at Alollouez Catholic Cemetery will be held at a later date.
