Obituary For Trudi Lee Makoid

Trudi Makoid was a lifelong lover of the outdoors and it’s a passion she carried throughout her entire life. Born in Watertown, WI - Trudi grew up with two loving parents, Tom and Ann Miler and her younger sister, Bette. She and her sister loved to ski on Rib Mountain (now Granite Peak) and go hiking in the woods. Trudi went to pharmacy school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and developed a passion for botany and became quite skilled at drawing plants. While at the University of Wisconsin she met her husband, Michael Makoid, who was also in pharmacy school. The two married in 1970 (later divorced) and adopted two children, Elizabeth and Andrew. Trudi lived most of her life in Madison, WI and enjoyed her career as a pharmacist. In particular, she enjoyed talking to the veterans and hearing their stories. Trudi was a devout Christian and really enjoyed her years attending Blackhawk Church in Middleton, WI. She was an avid camper and her favorite place to visit was the Sylvania wilderness in the Ottawa National Forest. She has always loved animals but the dog who truly held a spot in her heart was Sheldon. Trudi (77) passed away on Tuesday, May 31st at her home Middleton, WI. Trudi bravely fought a number of serious medical conditions over the past 7 years of her life. In the end it was Covid that took her. Trudi is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Bryan) Dyer, her son, Andrew Makoid, her grandchildren, Michael (age 10) and Adeline (age 7), her sister, Bette Clement, her niece, Sara Ryung Clement, and her nephew, Matthew (Celina) Clement. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ann Miler and her brother-in-law, Jim Clement.

We would like to thank Trudi’s “second” daughter, Meagan Parrish, for all her help and companionship over the last years of Trudi’s life. You made the last years of her life much happier and she always looked forward to your visits.

I am Bill Oakey, Trudi's first cousin (my mother Lucille and her father Tom were brother and sister). The Milers spent much time together, at Grandpas farm and other times, and I am saddened to hear of Trudis passing.

Over the years Ive known Trudi, there was never a doubt of her love of her children Liz & Andy. Trudi raised her family with spirit, grace, & compassion, which was returned to her 3 fold knowing they would live content lives. She spoke of them often, & always offered her support in anyway. She knew she was blessed. Trudis gentle soul, kept sincere in faith and it is certain she will live on in the hearts of all that knew her.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
