Madison- Bennett “Ben” James Rogers, age 64, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 as a result of chronic rejection from his lung transplant in 2007 and end stage renal disease. Ben was a fighter despite his numerous health challenges. He was born in Sheboygan on May 22, 1956, the only child of James and Francine (Mischo) Rogers. Ben was raised in Green Bay and moved to Madison, Wisconsin so he could be closer to the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
Ben was passionate about his music and played in several bands as a drummer. After graduating from West High School in Green Bay, he later earned a degree in Mechanical Design from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. In his younger years, he worked for Machine Service as a parts manager in Green Bay. He found joy in the road trips he and Tricia would take around the United States. He had many exciting adventures on the trips and enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking in the National Parks.
Ben was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed watching the games long distance with his son or his friend Randy. He also played tennis with Tricia and the two of them competed in the Transplant Olympic Games in Madison.
Ben is survived by his significant other, Tricia Wersal; daughter, Barbara Finn of Green Bay, Wisconsin, son, Peter (Mapi) Rogers of Wilsonville, Oregon; grandchildren, Solarian (Morgana) Laughlin, Sophia Finn, Niko Rogers, Mariana Rogers; cousins, Johnny Steinhardt and Sandi Ronk. He loved having his family visit and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Ben’s life will be scheduled this summer to allow more time for people to be vaccinated for COVID 19.
Many thanks to Heartland Hospice Care and the amazing transplant doctors and nurses at the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
