ARGYLE - David Brian LaVallee, age 62, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice. He was born on December 4, 1957 in West Allis, WI to parents Raymond and Ann (Turza) LaVallee.
David loved nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed bicycling, camping, fishing, and observing wildlife. He would go on long bike trips; he enjoyed bike repair and even built his own bicycle. After he moved to Rat Hollow Road he embraced native prairie plants with a passion. He transformed his yard from a patch of invasive weeds to a glory of native blooms.
Dave was trained as a toolmaker and his first career was cutting metal. He loved to work, and he could figure out how to make very complicated parts, very efficiently. But he developed a severe sound sensitivity and had to give that up. His second career was taking care of disabled people. He was a great caretaker and friend to Ron, Mark, and especially John. He took the guys camping, fishing, and on all kinds of other adventures.
Dave had an amazing visual memory, and a great eye for detail, which helped compensate for his hearing loss. He loved to recount stories of his escapades going all the way back to childhood. He turned frugality into an art form – he was proud of his tiny carbon footprint.
David is survived by his mother, Ann; 2 children, Shandra (Adam) Bauer and Zack (Kim Armann) LaVallee; 3 grandchildren, Brynn, Ethan, and Silas; 4 siblings, Steven (Sandy), Rae Ann (Pat), Nancy (Bruce), Linda (David), sister-in-law, Cheryl; former spouse, Kelly LaVallee, and best friend Jim Elleson.
David is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa; father, Raymond; and his brother, Gerald.
The family would like to thank the Monroe Clinic Hospice, Oncology nurse, Sue, and his hospice nurses including Kim, Kathleen, Teresa, and Angie.
A private interment will take place at Natural Path Sanctuary.
