MADISON – Debra Kay Nelson, age 53, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 after a long illness. Debra was born November 5, 1966 in Windsor, WI to Ervin and Ruby (Osmundsen) Hale. She grew up in Lodi and graduated from Verona High School. Debra married Sherman Nelson in Madison. Debra was a housekeeper for many years and also a bookkeeper at Kessinich’s in Madison. She loved the holidays, baking, and decorating appropriately for each season. Debra always looked forward to opening day of deer hunting season. As she got older she liked to go on “her little getaways” that included gambling. Debra also enjoyed fishing (as long as she didn’t have to bait, unhook, or clean fish), going to water parks, but most importantly being a mom and spending time with her kids. Debra had an unforgettable smile, laugh and was kindhearted to everybody. The Holidays will never be the same.
Debra is survived by her sons, Beau and Brandon; granddaughter, Nevaeh; siblings, Tom Hale, Ann (Smitty) Smith, Randy Hale, Steve Hale, Dave Hale, Jeff (Jackie) Hale, Mike Hale, Mark Hale. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman; parents; and brothers, Danny Hale and Ricky Hale.
A service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11AM at BLOOMING GROVE CEMETERY in Monona.
