Madison – Gary S. Burzinski, age 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at UW Hospital due to complications from treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He fought a courageous battle with everything he had until his last moment, with his family by his side. Gary was born on August 18, 1949 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Robert and Helen (Saflicki) Burzinski. On July 24, 1973, he married Gail Zimdars and enjoyed over 47 years of marriage. Gary worked for Suttle-Straus Printing Company for 46 years until he retired in 2015. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques and other items of value, spending time in nature in the woods or near the water, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He enjoyed fixing things, building things, creating things; and he enjoyed creating a habitat in his backyard for the chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels and other critters to enjoy. He also loved discovering old treasures, and wanted to go gem hunting and panning for gold someday, as well as build a cabin in the woods with a stream going through it. He could envision both the big picture of life as well as the small details. Gary always put family first, was very intelligent, had a great sense of humor, had a mind for business, and saw opportunity and value in many things. He was a lifelong learner, hard-working and loving, enjoyed offering guidance and helping others, and had a big heart. He was determined, a leader, a rock, a problem-solver, a great organizer, passionate, kind, caring, compassionate, understanding, forgiving, strong, focused, loyal, creative, inspiring, spiritual, and had a strong relationship with God. He was deeply loved and admired by his family and all who knew and loved him and will be greatly missed.
Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail Burzinski; three children, Cindy, Joe, and Patty Burzinski; one grandchild, Kayla Burzinski, and her mother Christina Fraley; his brothers, Robert, Richard, and Greg Burzinski; sister, Deb Winden; uncle, Gordy Burzinski; and cousin, Karen Burzinski. He is also survived by other loving family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Burzinski, his parents Robert and Helen Burzinski, and his sister, Denise Burzinski Jones.
