MADISON – Gregory David Joseph Burke, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at his home in Madison. Gregory “Greg” was born on October 5, 1951 in Madison to parents, Gerald and Marion (Freitag) Burke.

Greg attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and West high school. In his professional life, he was a head printer in fine arts checks until he had to care for his mother. His hobbies were fishing, reading, movies, playing guitar (he loved the Beatles), euchre, dominoes, and family cookouts.  When Greg was younger, he loved to be on his grandmother’s farm in Beaver Dam. That’s where he said he was the happiest. Greg was a kind and loving man and respected others. Toward the end of his life he had lung cancer and he was the favorite of all the nurses due to his patience and his sense of humor. He had a great sense of humor and loved family get togethers. His favorite holiday was always Thanksgiving. He was also a major lover of animals and a great protector of wildlife. He had many animals but his favorite was his dog, Toby.

Greg is survived by his son, Dan (Shy); granddaughter, Hayley Naron; sisters, Diana and Colleen; daughter by marriage, Kari Kittleson-Costantino; niece, Michele; aunts, cousins and extended family members.  He is also survived by his close friends, Ray Leimkuehler and Mike Mooney.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Louise Freitag Burke and Gerald Emmanuel Burke; brother, Brian Burke; nephew, Michael Burke.

There will be a celebration of his life in the spring of 2021 which will be announced later depending upon the circumstances of Covid-19. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
