Madison - Justin Leo "Jake" Ahrens found peace and joy in the hands of God on April 28, 2021 at Agrace Hospice, Fitchburg. Born on October 1, 1963 to Margo (Anderson) and Peter Joseph Ahrens, he was the sixth of seven children and lived the greater part of his 57 years in the Madison area.
Jake graduated from West High School in 1982. He earned an associate degree in Marketing from the Northwood Institute of Michigan and used that degree to work in the Marketing Division of Ahrens Cadillac-Olds. He also enjoyed his careers at 1st Federal Bank and Panera Bread. Wherever he worked, Jake was a charismatic person who put great pride in being an employee and made enduring friendships with fellow employees and customers alike.
As a child, going on family vacations with his uncles, aunts and cousins, Jake was the most at ease entertaining his friends and relatives with impressions and antics that never failed to make those around him laugh.
All who knew Jake felt his deep sense of affection and experienced his kindness. We will carry those memories forever.
Jake loved his family. Spending time with his brothers and sisters and feeling welcomed and loved were some of his greatest treasures. After his father’s death, Jake and his mother developed a deep bond that she will forever cherish. Dad and Jake, who had much in common, are now together again. Like his father, Jake also had a deep love of food that at times bordered on addiction for Mom’s tacos, Dad’s BBQ chicken and pretty much anything with gravy. For Jake, gravy was more like a beverage.
Jake had a lot of addictions. Some healthy, some not. It was his addictions that caught up to him and his body finally gave out. But not his heart. To be loved and to give love was Jake’s greatest gift. He will be missed.
Jake is survived by his loving mother Margo Ahrens, siblings: Catherine Ahrens-Edge, Peter Ahrens, Amanda (Bruce) Meier, Matthew (Debbie) Ahrens, DJ Ahrens, Adam (Rose Reyes) Ahrens. He is further survived by nephews Matthew (Meagan Blazewicz) Ahrens, Austin (Olya) Meier, Jordan (Christa Bertakis) Meier, Max (Melissa) Meier, and his nieces Alexandria and Anna Ahrens. He had two great-nephews and two great-nieces, as well as an abundance of cousins, Aunts and Uncles. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Peter J Ahrens, his brother-in-law, Gary Edge, grandparents and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 1:00PM, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr, with Fr. Bart Timmerman presiding and will be following COVID protocols. Interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery will follow.
