Obituary

Madison – Maxine (Herfel) Bartosch, age 81, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Madison Pointe Senior Living. She was born in Madison on November 16, 1939, the daughter of Andrew and Glenice (Scott) Herfel. Maxine dearly loved her family and was fortunate to have made many meaningful and lasting friendships throughout her life. She had a gift for connecting with people and her life experiences allowed her to share wisdom and grace with those around her. Maxine accepted everyone with open arms, without judgement and was never short on giving compliments. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her cats. Maxine enjoyed gardening, quilting, and dancing and was especially fond of coffee and Elvis.

Maxine is survived by her children, Thomas McKenna, Gina (Timm) Minor, and Michael (Amanda) McKenna; grandchildren, Katie (Justin) Genrich, Breah (Joey) Lieberman, Erica (Josh) Reece, Hailey, Jake, and Logan McKenna; great-grandchildren, Landon, Hudson, and Lennon; brother, Dennis (Sandy) Herfel; and special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Holly McKenna; parents, Andrew and Glenice Herfel; and brother, James Herfel.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Agrace Hospice for their support and care of Maxine and her family during this time.

A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held at a later date.

Mom, we know you are with Holly and that brings us comfort and peace.
