Shirley Mae Hurley

August 25, 1942 ~ September 9, 2020 (age 78)

Obituary

Shirley M Hurley peacefully passed away on September 9, 2020 after an epic battle for life. She was a strong independent woman who was loved by all who knew her. She had many talents which included gardening, cooking, crafts and the art of billiards. Shirley was a well respected business owner on the east side of Madison until her retirement in 1997. She was passionate and excelled in all things she did. She loved cooking for and spending time with her friends in Wisconsin and Florida, but the true joy in her life came from her family. Shirley woke, lived, slept and slipped from this world as “My Nana “. She had an undying love for children. She loved and made a positive impact on the lives of every kid that was lucky enough to have her in their life.

Shirley will live on in the hearts of her loving husband Skip; her children, Debi (Ed) Shane (Becky); grandchildren Caitlin, Emily, Brandon, Olivia, Ryan, Curtis, and Isabel. She was loved by her brothers-in-law Sean, who was like a son to her, and Danny, as well as her sister Carolyn; brother Jesse, Dallas; and many nieces and nephews.

There are no words to describe our heartfelt gratitude to Karen Huseby Moore. Your care and compassion during this journey meant the world to us. You may have entered her life as part of her health care team but became part of our family. We would also like to Thank Agrace Hospice, especially Sara and Becky.

Mom was a very simple soul who did not like a lot of attention, so the family has chosen to have a private gathering at this time and will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Also, in respect of her wishes the family request no flowers be sent but to keep her spirit alive in your hearts.
