Obituary

DeForest – Janice Steinbach Ripp Beloungy passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, with family by her side. Janice was born on June 1, 1940, to the late Archie and Amy Steinbach.  She grew up in Wauzeka, WI, until the family relocated to DeForest where she graduated from high school. Janice married Kenny Ripp in 1959, and together they raised seven children: Greg, Theresa, Laurie, David, Joe, Ron, and Mary.

Janice was busy raising her children, then worked for many years at American Family Insurance, ensuring she could provide for her family. On May 5, 1990, Janice married Larry Beloungy, whom she had met and fell in love with, and who introduced her to the world of traveling and square dancing. Janice loved being with others, especially her family, no matter the activity. Her motto was, “The mess will always be here when I get back home; this opportunity to be with my family won’t.”

Janice was most proud of her family, especially her children and they always came first. Her religious conviction gave her strength to endure anything in her life and gave her peace through her transition to heaven. Jan had a caring and compassionate soul, always finding the good in anyone she knew. She was always up for adventures with “the girls”, holding all the babies and listening to the chatter in the room.

She is survived by her children Greg (Tina-deceased) Ripp, Theresa (Gary-deceased) Schlub, Joe (Wendy) Ripp, Laurie (Lyle) Buchner, David-deceased (Toni) Ripp, Ron (Michelle) Ripp and Mary (Kevin) Hamilton; stepsons Gregg Beloungy-deceased, Jared Beloungy; 16 grandchildren, Mat, Darcy, Corina, Amy, Garrett, Emily, Jade, Nikki, Josh, Racheal, Jordan, Jodie, Mason, Kendra, Cole and Taylor; 25 great-grandchildren (2 more on the way), brother Don (Shar Cox) Steinbach, sisters Karen (Ray) Lavallee and Dianne Steinbach, many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, son David, son-in-law Gary, daughter-in-law Tina, stepson Gregg, sister and brother in-law Rita and Bob Cipra and many aunts, uncles, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson St, DeForest. The visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of service followed by the burial.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dan and his staff at Fountainhead Homes and Assisted Living Center, Megan and her staff at Brighton Hospice Services, and Parkside Senior Living and the many visitors who came to see her in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and will be distributed to charities close to Jan’s heart. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com.
