John Craig

Madison-John H. Craig, beloved Husband/Father/Grandfather decided to join our other loved ones in Heaven on May 15, 2016 in the comfort of his home-with his Family. He was born to Mary (Dilley) and Thomas Craig on September 30, 1927 in Richland Center Wisconsin. He graduated from Central High School in 1947 where he met his first wife, Patricia Ellis. They were married in Dubuque Iowa on November 19, 1949 as a joke and went on to have 5 Little Ha-Ha’s. He worked most his life as a truck driver and was the Union Steward for Teamsters 695 for many years. He loved life and had a great time living it. He was an avid athlete and played softball for many years. In 1948 he tried out for the New York Yankees at Central HS practice field-and was the only one to hit it out of the park-onto a lady’s porch doing so. He loved his trips to Vegas, Family trips to Door County, and our trips to Dubuque .He was happy doing anything as long as it involved his Family. He had oceans of friends many of whom are waiting to catch up with him. He treasured his Coffee Club down at Mr. Robert’s with all his heckling buddies, the gals who took good care of him down there, Deanna, Jenna and Wanda, and of course, his best bud Bob Hanson. He and Pat are members of St Peter’s Catholic Church.

John is survived by his first wife, Pat, 5 children Laurie Sokolak, Cindy Craig, Danny (Virginia) Craig, Amy (Mike) Clark, and Carrie Ann (Rick) Brownrigg. 7 Grandchildren, Lisa, Kelli, Casey, Caitlyn, JJ, Kyle, Brett and 1 Great grandchild, Maddy. He is also survived by his baby sister Inez Kruger.

He was preceded in death by his 4 sisters Clara, Hilda, Ramona, Mildred, and 2 brothers Warren and Raymond. Son in law Larry Sokolak, and grandchildren Jessica and DJ.

Thank you to the amazing people at Agrace Hospice- for their amazing help during this difficult time. We would also like to thank Dr. Michael Huie and the wonderful staff at Carbone Cancer Center and Dr. Scott Gyrog at DeForest Meriter Clinic.

Friends may call Friday May 20th, from 4-7 pm at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N Sherman Ave, Madison and from 10am until the time of the service Saturday. A Funeral Service will be 11am Saturday, May 21st at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N Sherman Ave, Madison with Fr. James McHenry presiding. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Dad had one special request-no ties, no suits…Packer & Badger gear are welcome. He wants you to be comfortable celebrating his life.

Thank you Dad-for all you’ve done for us-for all you’ve taught us. We love you & will miss you every single day. Mom will be well taken care of. Until we meet again <3
