We are forever grateful for his service to our great country. What an honor it was for us to take him on his well-deserved trip of a lifetime. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I’m finding out about John’s passing on the anniversary of my dad’s (John Schunk) passing. They were very good friends. My dad truly loved and respected John. I appreciate the support and encouragement I received from Mr. Scharer over the years and cherish the fact my dad and I could call him friend. Steve Schunk

John and Jill, I was so sad to hear about your Dad. He was one of a kind. Both your parents were great people. John’s knowledge if Verona history made for so many interesting conversations! He always had a smile for you when you met him. The house on Franklin will always be John and Lois’s to me. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met John at Noel Manor when I worked there. He was so lovely and kind. He was so nice to everyone and will be dearly missed. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. ❤️
