Dolores McConnell

April 06, 1933 - April 18, 2025

Obituary

Dolores passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025 at the home where she resided in DeForest, Wisconsin.  Born on April 6, 1933, she grew up in Detroit, Michigan with her sister Jane and parents Marie and Ernest.  She met her husband John Howard McConnell working at Detroit Edison and they married in 1956. John’s lotes

career in Human Resources took them to Morristown, NJ in 1969 where he eventually started his own management consulting firm McConnell-Simmons and they proudly raised three energetic sons Keith, Brian and Eric.  John pursued his passion for promoting the circus, including his own traditional production Circus Royale, with Dolores was at his side,

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband John (2011) and beloved son Brian (2016). She is survived by her sister Jane Cooper Petrie, her sons Keith and Eric, their wives Bernice and Nancie, and Brian’s former wife Sue, and grandchildren Kevin, Stephen, Jake and Grace and Great Granddaughter Charlotte.

In Morristown, Dolores enjoyed working for many years at Epstein’s Department Store.  She enthusiastically entertained her family and friends on Holidays with a passion for setting a beautiful table with fine china and crystal, and embracing the holiday themes with festive decor.  She was a devoted counselor at OA where she appreciated the fellowship and camaraderie of her friends there.  She was a loving pet owner of her yellow Labs Bailey and Tyler and her Tabby cat Kelly.  Her favorite place to vacation with her husband and kids was at the Hotel Byblos in Saint-Tropez.

No memorial service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dolores’s name to Saint Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com

I went to the store when Eric and his mom were sick with Covid, Eric wanted Mexican Coke . I went to a certain store and picked it up and dropped it off on your front porch and Dolores came out on the front porch to get it for Eric even though she was sick also.
