Janet Wolff

November 29, 1947 - May 22, 2025

Obituary

Janet Wolff, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, after a long life of love and happiness.

Janet Uhalt was born in Madison, on November 29, 1947. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1965 and continued to receive a Food Science degree from Madison Area Technical College.

Janet married the love of her life David Wolff on September 14, 1968 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison, celebrating forty-eight years together.

Janet worked for decades at Famous Footwear’s corporate office. She enjoyed tending to her garden and shopping, as well as watching hours of game shows. She was an avid supporter of University of Wisconsin band and athletics, especially basketball, having season tickets for over forty years.

Janet is survived by her son, Rick (Valerie); daughter, Cathi; and three grandchildren Garrett (Katy), Zak (Isabel), and Marissa (Leif) and many great grandpets; and many siblings.

Jan’s suggestion is for everyone to wear blue or pink, as they were her favorite colors. As well, wear your favorite shoes in honor of her love for them.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:00AM at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00AM until time of service. Final resting place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Waunakee.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to either Middleton Players Theatre or the Olbrich Gardens, as she was a lover of the arts and gardening.

Janet’s legacy will live on forever. She will be remembered in all gardens bright, where petals dance in golden light.

Janet was a wonderful “babysitter” who became a treasured family friend. Janet was a talented baker who created beautiful cakes. I will always think of her when I bake now because she started my baking interest!! Cathi and I would sit for hours and watch her make beautiful frosting flowers and patiently waited for the cake scraps and mixing spoons full of frosting. Janet had an infectious laugh and a smile that light the room. Until we meet again Janet, watch over our families and help ensure we continue to see one another. Hugs and prayers to the Wolff and Uhalt families.

Janet was also a wonderful Child Care Provider to her nieces and nephews and neighbors too. We treasure the times we had with the Wolf Family (turtle catching, playing spoons, dancing to the Grease Soundtrack and more). Love Macy Fawcett Buhler
