Obituary

Kenny Yau San Pun was born in Shanghai, China on May 19, 1931.  He was the only son and child of a Kuomintang General.  He watched the rise and fall of the Kuomintang political party and escaped to Hong Kong in 1951 to escape persecution by the Communist Party. Kenny worked as a shipman, traveling the world, to earn a living for his wife and six children.  He immigrated to the United States in 1968 and worked as a restaurant chef.  He loved to spend time with friends and family. One of his favorite past times was roller skating and he could even go backwards on one leg and he continued to roller skate, even in his 60s.  Kenny was an avid dog lover and dogs loved him.  When he was a kid, his father bought him seven dogs that he would walk through the city of Shanghai and everyone called him “The Dog King.”  Kenny also loved to play the lottery, in hopes of striking it big, and sharing his fortune with others and making a better life for everybody. He was known throughout all of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, as he strolled everywhere in a winter jacket, even in the middle of summer.  He was always walking to the gas station and buying food for his family.  Whenever he saw his grandkids, he’d always have a big smile. Kenny was known for his mischievous and fun loving spirit.  He was generous and kind to those he loved.  Kenny Yau San Pun will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Kenny passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025 surrounded by loving family.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and courage that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.  May he rest in peace.
