Obituary

With broken hearts, the family of Jacob Wayne Johnson of Windsor, WI announces his sudden passing on July 4, 2025.  

Jacob was born to Jennifer Amacher (Johnson) Meza and the late Noel Wayne Johnson on May 4, 1999, much to the joy of his big sister, Heather Lea Johnson. Later, Jacob’s family was enlarged by his loving stepfather, Luis Meza and little sister Ariana Grace Meza. 

Jacob possessed a strong intellect and was deeply insightful. At age 5, he revealed his plan to solve climate change.  (It sounded incredibly close to workable.) While in his early teens, he became a self-taught computer programmer. He developed a gaming program which he published and sold subscriptions to on the internet. These are only two examples of his extraordinary abilities. To his family, he was their “bright shining star” who bestowed the best hugs. 

After graduating from DeForest High School in 2017, he had many paths from which to choose: college, electrician, engineering, electronics, investor, wine maker; a long list of possibilities.  Like his father, Jacob had the ability to master almost anything he put his mind to.   He had taken steps in a few directions, excelling as an electronics installer/technician and more recently, a property maintenance technician. His goal was to use his training and expertise to become a real estate flipper. 

Jacob is survived by a large, loving family, which includes grandparents Jerry and Shirley Cowan, Fernando and Adelaida (Lopez) Meza, and Roberta (Bobbie) Johnson. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many good friends. While there are too many to list, none are forgotten. And not to be overlooked, his sweet cat, Eevee that brought him much joy. 

Jacob was preceded in death by his father Noel W. Johnson, who we know was waiting at the Gate to greet him, along with his grandfather, Fred Amacher and all his great grandparents. 

A celebration of Jacob’s life was held on July 12, 2025, It gladdened the hearts of his family that so many joined in the celebration that concluded with a fireworks display. The family would like to thank all those who helped make this celebration one that will remain in our memories. A special thank you to his cousin Annette Anderson who assisted in countless ways; to the ladies from the LDS Second Ward that provided food; and to Paul Oliphant for his words and prayer that touched us all.  

In the future, for all his loved ones, the 4th of July will not only represent the birth of our nation, but it will also be a celebration of the life of Jacob Wayne Johnson. He will live forever in our hearts.

We met Jacob when he started working at our apartment building. He was a very friendly kind young man and I was saddened to hear of his passing. God Bless Him and prayers to his family and friends. Such a great loss.

I have many fond memories of Jacob but two stand out. When he was about four, he had just lost his father, and we were spending a lot of time together. Our favorite place was Dennys. He loved their milkshakes. Other patrons would get a kick out of us when we would blow straw wrappers at each other. One day he said, “Grandma, I like talking to you.” And I responded, “Why is that?” He answered, “Because you listen good.” And then, a few years later, there was the Older Adult Essay he wrote as a school assignment. “I think my grandma Bobbie is the best grandma in the world because she is kind and generous. I think my grandma is kind because she is really good to people and she is super nice to little kids. I also think my grandma is generous because she is always helpful. She used to work at a jail place to help women get out of jail and help them find jobs. I think they call it a probation officer or something like that. So I think that’s why she is so kind and generous. My grandma needs to be nice because she has four grandkids so she needs a lot of it.” I believe there is nothing more precious than having your little grandson see you as a kind and generous person, except seeing him grow into a kind and generous young man. And that he was.

We are grateful to have gotten to know Jacob, we have so many great memories with him. We will cherish those memories forever in our hearts. Jacob was truly an amazing friend to Riley and I. He was always the light in the room and made everyone around him laugh. Jacob was a one of a kind friend and parts of him still live on in us. We will never know someone else who has quite the same goofy personality, and spark as Jacob did. We are so honored to have had him in our wedding. Jacob will truly be missed, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
