Obituary

Cecil Eugene Boyd, age 89, passed away on July 7, 2025, in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. He was born on January 30, 1936, in Opp, Alabama to parents Hubert Boyd and Trudie (Cole) Boothe.

After graduating high school, Cecil joined the Army, later serving in the Air Force and the National Guard. He and his wife shared 67 years of marriage together. Cecil was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the American Legion, and in his early years he was a member of the Poynette Gun Club. He was employed at Oscar Mayer in Madison for 37 years. Cecil loved hunting, fishing, and spending his time at the Mississippi River.

He is survived by his wife and his daughter.

Good memories of being on his trap shooting team in Poynette. We took 1st place that year when I was in high school. Ralph Dorman, John Beck and my day Marvin were on that team. I also deer hunted with Cecil and Ralph for almost 10 years in Westboro. He was a good guy and will be missed. I was able to see him at his Mississippi retreat a couple years ago since I moved to that area.
