John Wetzel

John P. Wetzel, 78, of Waunakee, WI, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, John lived a life full of music, love, and quiet joy. He was a husband, father, brother, cousin, and a loyal friend who brought humor into every room he entered.

John was known for his love of music, especially the Eagles, Neil Young, John Prine, and Tom Petty, and he found joy in playing guitar throughout his life. Whether strumming a favorite tune or relaxing with his beloved dog, John cherished the simple pleasures.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Wetzel, his five children, and dozens of cousins who all brought him happiness. John will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Agrace Hospice for their compassionate hospice care and support during John’s final days, and to friends and family who traveled near and far to visit with him over the past months. It meant the world to him.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A small celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date to honor and remember him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in John’s memory.
