Delores Skinner

Delores "Dee" M. Skinner, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, WI. She was born on January 26, 1934, to Arthur and Dora (Schlosser) Dailey in Bemidji, MN.

After graduating Tri-County High School in 1951, Delores moved to Zion, Illinois to help care for her mother who was battling cancer. At that time, Delores began working for Great Lakes Naval Station where she met James “Jim” W. Skinner. After her mother’s passing, Delores and Jim were married in Zion on December 6, 1952. Both were successful realtors and property managers owning Jim Skinner Realty and Skinner Properties. Delores continued to manage Skinner Properties after Jim’s passing, in 1997, until her retirement in 2007.

Delores and Jim enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their RV during their semi-retirement, spending many memorable winters in Florida. Delores adored and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Delores is survived by son, Rick (Mary) Skinner of Urbandale, Iowa, daughter, Jill (Tom) Gmeinder of Madison, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Benjamen (Leah) Gmeinder, Kelsey (Matthew) Brundage, Nathaniel Skinner and Margi Skinner and her 3 great granddaughters, Madeleine, Sadie and Clare. Delores is also survived by her sister, Charmaine Bain of North Charleston, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents, Arthur and Dora; brothers, Milford “Mel”, Virgil, Merlyn and Lyle “Bud” as well as sisters, Margorie, Lora, Edythe, Della and Barbara.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff at Agrace Hospice Care for the respectful, thoughtful and kind care they gave to our mother and grandmother in her final months.
